Definitely keep us updated! Cosette is absolutely adorable, and will probably win her "big sister" over in no time at all.
what a sweet pic! i can't wait till i can take one like that of Pixel & Cable (probably never!Originally Posted by rosiemac
Don't worry Amy she will come round!. Rosie hated both of us, and like you when i put my hand out for her to sniff at she would growl and bat me with her paw as if to say "I HATE YOU!!!". It used to upset me so much seeing her like this, but then two weeks later everything was quiet and Sophie had wandered off into what i thought was the kitchen for some food but she wasn't there?!.
I ran upstairs expecting Rosie to have her pinned down but this is what i found!
It brought tears to my eyes i can tell you knowing that she had accepted Sophie
this so sounds like Cable! how old is Eponine? i think part of the problem with Cable & my other 2 is they were 7 years old when she came to us. Pixel's doing better with her now that Cable's older & calmed down a little bit. oh, & i so understand the litter-box comment!Originally Posted by ugaimes
Hi all
Well, it's been 5 days since Cosette became part of the family. So far, so crazy! She is a nut!!!I guess it's just her being a typical kitten, but she wants to play all of the time and likes to explore EVERYTHING! She's been staying in the bathroom vanity during the day when I'm gone and at night. If I'm home and she's stuck in the vanity room, she cries bloody murder until I let her out!
I've kept her and Eponine pretty much separated. Eponine got curious by Tuesday night and would sniff at the door to Cosette's room every time she cried. So, last night I decided I would start letting them be in the same room together under supervision. Well, Eponine is not Cosette's biggest fan, but at least she is not scared of her. When Cosette was running around the room, Eponine jumped up on the dresser, looked down at her, and just made growls and whining noises. I guess she was on the dresser to establish her rightful place as the alpha cat. Cosette basically ignored Eponine and continued to play with Bradley, me, and everything else in-between. We also let her get in bed with us and cuddle while we watched TV. She's not big on cuddling yet (not when there are so many new things to explore), but I have a feeling she will be a major lovey-dovey. So far, her favorite toys are the cat dancer and Bradley's shoes!
So that's what she's been up to so far. She's eating healthy and drinking plenty of water. She is also almost TOO good at using her littler box if you know what I mean!
We figured out how to get her on a good sleeping schedule. I bought her a kitten cozy pad that you heat in the microwave for warmth. So I heat it up every night and each morning when I go to work. She is starting to learn that that's sleepy-bye time for kitty
If anyone's interested, I'll keep you all updated on her progress and I will have tons of pictures to post! Needless to say, I love that little kitten more than life itself already!!!!
Cosette and Eponine will be great together, they really will.Originally Posted by ugaimes
Thanks BethAnd I hope you're right about Eponine. I'm SO scared about hurting my big girl's feelings. I hate that she is probably feeling jealous of the new kitten. Did you experience jealousy among your kitties? How long did it take for adjustments to be made amongst themselves?
Oh my goodness, is this what it's like to have real children?????

Well, yesterday things began to change in my household! The girls are now chasing each other and with minimum growling and swatting on Eponine's part. I honestly am starting to believe that Eponine is coming around and realizing that Cosette is not a threat, but will be a playmate to her.
I am so excitedMy dream of having 2 kitties that actually like each other is starting to come true *knock on wood*
