You used self-rising flour AND baking powder? No wonder your cookies grew so big!!

Self-rising powder basically takes the place of the baking powder - that's why you never had problems before but did this time. You had a double dose of grow in there!

Also, did you change flour or sugar brands recently? The milling process can change the way things come out.

Finally made my way back here, and I want to reiterate the parchment recommendation! Nothing sticks, and there's nothing to clean up! Woohoo!
