Won't do any harm, my boys are always stealing bits of egg from us. If they like eggs then a bit of plain scrambled egg is a healthy treat for them once in a while
The reason I asked is because I thought I heard egg yolks were gassy and bad, but heard egg whites were ok as long as they were cooked. Yeah it was just a treat, and I cant prove it, but I think the margarine helped prevent hairballs too.
The cats outside will eat bird eggs if given the chance, so eggs most certainly seem like part of a cats diet, though probably the lesser of it. Some canned foods have eggs as the ingredient i've noticed.
My wife and I had been married about 6 months. I was a senior in college, and she was in her first year of teaching. The car was in the shop, we were broke, and we didn't have much food in the house. We actually went through the couch to find all the remaining change in the house to go buy a gallon of milk.
As we walked down the street to the store, I came across a skinny little white and black kitty. My wife said, "Don't pet the cat!"
I petted the cat.
We went on down to store. On the way back, the cat was still there.
My wife said, "Don't pet the cat!"
I petted the cat. He followed us home.
We had absolutely nothing in the house to feed him, except a dozen eggs. We cooked him scrambled eggs, and he ate them. And I don't believe he ever ate another egg in the 15 years we had him!
(By the way, this was a college town where cats were being abandoned all the time by students going home.)
