You might look into slippery elm. It is supposed to make the colon smooth, making motility a little easier. I am sure someone on here is more familiar with it. I think you make a little tea out of it. I was on the Yahoo megacolon group, and Miralax should not have any long term side effects. My cat had CRF, and that was his problem with constipation. Your problem sounds like a lot of fur in kitty's stool. A lot of people on megacolon said that they used coconut oil or even olive oil. I don't know how that works with fur binding in poops. The slippery elm bark might help with the motility, or at least sooth the colon.
