Hello!
I am very confused by my kitten right now. She meows when she can't see me, and I know what's up with that. I'm a college student and the semester just began, so I went from usually home, to gone most days for a good 8 hours. But I've noticed something weird. If she loses sight of me, she can't seem to find me. I don't have to move for this. If I'm on the bed, for instance, and she's on the ground, if i sit on the far side of the bed, she can't see me, and she starts meowing for me, and looking for me. Or I'll be making my lunch in the kitchen, and she'll wander out, then start meowing to look for me, and half the time she can't find me because her back is to me.
I've tried feeding her, to see if that was it, and it didn't work. She didn't want to play or be pet, and have a clean litter box or fresh water. She doesn't want to cuddle or be held. But she stops meowing when she sees me.
I'm mostly concerned that she can't find me, when I'm within two feet of her, if her back is to me. She had a series of seizures for about three to four days straight about three weeks ago, about 25 total. We managed to cure her of those (turned out to be a liver infection). I don't know if this is normal though, as she was only about five weeks when that happened. She's a rescue kitten whose mom dropped her off at my doorstep, basically, and abandoned her there because of an ulcerated eye (she had to get it removed). I've hand reared her, though she was already largely weaned, but she's too little for me to really know if she's always had this problem or not.
This is my first kitten. I've always had older cats. Is this a kitten thing? Or is there something wrong?
