Coco got a her bp test and it was 120 which is good.
Her kidneys are very small though but her numbers are better.
She suggested we try a new kidney medicine that just came out.
Cleo went to the vet for her Rabies shot and to check her eyes.
She gets the merial purvax rabies vaccine.
Her vet talked to her breeder about what rabies shot to get tomae sure it was right.
Some idiot brought a sick cat to a show and she got Chlamydia from the show.
Her face was so swollen and her eyes was dripping greed stuff.
She got Clavamox and Terramycin for it and it has helped alot.
The vet said it looks like TY had Salmonella from the raw food.
There is another thing it might be also but I will not say anything until we know for sure which might be Weds or Fri.
She feels bad about what happened to Ty.
He was blind also.

That's really scary what happened with Ty. I tried feeding Buster raw food in the past but I was worried about salmonella. I bought a bag of raw meat from the specialty pet store and there are very strict rules about serving the food. For example, I had to wear gloves when serving the meat and I had to remove the food within 30 minutes. It was just too much hassle so I never bought raw food again. I'm sorry that Ty had to go through this.

Thanks,
The Raw food my sister used was bought at the pet store.
I do not feed raw to my cats.
Both my sphynx get what the breeders were feeding them Royal Cannin.
My sister was blaming herself today because she fed the raw.
The vet did me today that she is pretty sure Ty had that.
There is something else she things he had also but we will not say anything until we know for sure.
This was so unexpected.

Tell her NOT to blame herself ... recently two different DRY foods were recalled for Salmonella .. Yes raw food has risks but all food has risks

I told her not to blame herself.
I heard about it being in those dry foods.
I was suppose to show Ty this wekend and I wrote the entry clerk but she has not replied.
I really do not want to get asked where Ty is.

I'm sorry you're having to go through all this, Mews2Much! That sounds like a lot of fairly serious stuff all at once.

Many vibes for you and all your kitties....

Does Ty have an underlying medical issue? Healthy cats are actually very resistant to Salmonella (gov/pubmed/14736718) and in all the cases of dry food Salmonella recalls this past year, not one pet came down with it.

Why does the vet think that's what he's got (besides the fact he had raw food)? I feed raw exclusively, so I'm always on the alert for reports of raw food issues.
I am guessing the saying we will know for sure mean a necropsy is being done

The necropsy has already been done.
Ty was my sisters cat that I was showing for her.
I think it was sent to UC Davis.
We are waiting for the results to come back.
I do not want to say what else the vet said until we now for sure.
I wonder if there was a bad bach of raw food somehwere.
Cleo will be on the eye med for 2 more weeks and will be fine once the infection is gone.
Coco has CRF and was given 5 months to live last Jan/Feb.
My sister has not touched anything that was Tys.
She is still very upset right now.

I am so sorry Jacky and Frances and Nial... I Still can't get over the fact that that healthy, beautiful, sweet and rumbustious kitten was so suddenly taken ill... That is so scary, and really really sad...

Hope the results are in soon.

Based on Frances descriptions of Ty's condition, I really thought he had FIP, except for he had no fever at all and his temp was actually a little low.

Then his blood tests came back as no exposure to the corona virus, so FIP was ruled out.

I also suspected hepatic lipidosis due to the rapid weight loss, but his liver test came back normal.

I guess we'll know soon.

The vet told me there is still a posibility that it can still be FIP even though the tests came back Neg and he had no fever.
This is what she said to me today.
bad_kitty2001: I want my Ty back. No cat like him.
She misses him alot.
It will be strange going to the show this weekend with only Wrinkles.
Everyone wanted to see Ty.

Well I have to agree with Frances, Ty can't be replaced. He was one of a kind. He was something else, just the sweetest, most lovable cat.

I wonder sometimes if these over the top affectionate cats already know their time on earth is going to be short, so they put everything they have in the time alloted to them.

Back to the FIP, I'm very interested to know if that turns out to be the cause, because it has always been said that a cat must be exposed first to the corona virus and then later it mutates to FIP. Which the blood tests would show the cat had been exposed and acquired the virus.

The vet said the same thing about the corona virus.
His corona test was good.
The vet did tell me that looked like FIP from what she saw but the blood tests.
She also said she is pretty sure it was Salmonella.
I am wondering if we should have the food tested that my sister fed him?
It was the food that comes packaged already.
I think it is true the good die young.
It has happened to me before.
I thought I would never love a cat that much again but I do.
Ty was fun to show and he never hissed or growled at judges.
I will miss showing him.
She has my Cocos son but Ty was her favorite cat.

Ty was definitely among my favorite cats. He was just like his sire Rome, who is now neutered and our forever pet and he was just like his full brother Razzle Dazzle who belongs to my sister-in-law. I see Ty in them everyday.

My goal is to place a different cat with your sister who doesn't take Ty's place, but gives her just as much joy. Ty can't be replaced.

She has told me of your plans.
She is trying to decide if she wants the older cat or a kitten.
She did show me pictures of the cat you offered her and she does like him.
Our next TICA show after this weekend is Jan 8th-10th.
I hope to have a good sphynx by the Annual in Sept.

Just my 2 cents:

God, I am so sorry about Ty. It's been 4 years (I think) since I lost Smudge 1 to FIP. I agree that there may be something special about these cats that don't have long. I still have trouble seeing "my cat has FIP" in a post.

When Smudge first got FIP he DID have a fever, but the biggest thing was that his retinas detached and he was blind. Oh, and even though they did several tests, it was never "conclusive". But I know that's what it was.

I wish I wasn't typing this post, but I'll also say that all 7 of Smudge's brothers and sisters and the 3 cats that lived here before Smudge was born never got sick.
