I've used Arm & Hammer cat litter brand for some time and didn't notice a problem until recently. The Slide varieties seem to stick to my cat's paws and even sometimes his butt. It makes for quite a mess.. I have litter mats by the pans but they do not help. Can anyone recommend a better clumping litter?

Hi
I've been using clumping litters combined with littermaid walnut or their corncob (not corn) litter which can help. Tidy Cat light and free isn't too bad re; sticking.

Clumping litter that is wet will stick to anything that touches it. Maybe it's not the litter you are using but your cat's habits in the litter box? Some cats will step in their own fresh pee spots or the pee splashes a bit and causes litter to stick to the butt.

Most litter gets in between the toes and gets tracked out of the box. Mats are kind of useless because they don't do anything to remove litter stuck in between the toes. In theory a nubby mat would work to help spread the toes apart as the cat walks across the mat but cats don't like to walk on such a surface.

It seems to be dry litter.

Where do you think?

Tidy cat light is what made my cat indy sick. She had asthma attacks weekly when I used it. It also left stains all over my floor, furniture, and washing machine. I can't get them off even now years after not using it.

I would not recommend it to anyone.

I'm so sorry to hear this! --I've not had any issues. I double checked what I have downstairs, Tidy Cats Free and Clean, Special Kitty Unscented and Petco's bulk litter (along with the Littermaid), all with the idea of not spending a whole lot and still having a clay based litter that's not too dusty or has a large degree of sticking, since Poppy has that accidental habit described above of stepping into the wet area as he's departing the litterbox.

Tidy cats lightweight is what I had all the problems with. Both my cats pee in one corner of the box and it just goes slimy and nasty instead of clumping. Then they would step in it and track the sludge all over the floor and furniture. My mantle has a large grey stain from the sludge I cannot remove even years later. Probably needs to be sanded off. I just put a rock garden on top of it. The one on my leather sofa has come off fortunately with a treatment kit I got from a leather specialist. My washer also has grey stains from it.

It was the stains actually that made me switch but Indy's weekly asthma attacks stopped when I switched too. Turns out the dust from that stuff was a trigger. The lightweight formula is quite dusty.

I have heard light litters cause issues. I hope Indy recovered.

Wait, what did you buy?
Conlun Cat Litter Mat Cat Litter Trapping Mat, Honeycomb Double Layer Design, Urine and Water Proof Material, Scatter Control, Less Waste,Easier to Clean...
Size:31” X 26”
Color:Gray

Pieviev Cat Litter Mat Double Layer Waterproof Urine Proof Trapping Mat (30''X24'', Black)

I haven't used the honey comb yet(pieview) but it probably works just as good. Difference is the honey comb has velcro so you can open it up to get a better clean

it's handy to have extra so when you clean it get another out while it dries
