my 13 week old kitten loves to chew on plastic and cardboard.... should i be concerned??? i mean like all things had and soft plastic and papers and cardboard/
One of my babies was a chewer too when I brought her home too. Do you know what worked great? Drinking straws(supervised of course so they don't chew any pieces off). My Alice still carries them around like treasures and bites and plays with them to this day!
Plastic straws worked great for my Queen Eva too. She still plays with them sometimes. Mazy likes them too. I buy the bendy ones. Snip off the ends when they get chewed up.
A thick leather bootlace or piece of clothesline rope is okay too. Or even an old purse strap. Wash the boot lace first. Whip the ends of the clothesline and of course check frequently for wear.
Thick strips of cardboard, or cardboard boxes with the flaps torn off so she can sit in the box and chew the edges , also okay.
Yeah my Diego is 15 weeks and totally into this stage- nothing is safe! I give him lots of safe toys to play with/chew on but he's partial to paper (not good for me since I'm tying to study for finals!)
The point is, chewing at this age is very normal. I would keep plastic away from your little one and only allow cardboard/plastic drinking straws if it's supervised. Buy some small durable toys to get you through the chewing phase!
