Cats Sniff The Air Conditioning?

Hi all cat lovers!
I have two kitties, brother and sister who are 10 years old. I have noticed something silly they do since I brought them to college with me about a year ago, and have been increasingly curious about this behavior!

Every time the A/C kicks on in my house, they both stop what they're doing and look up and smell the air for about 10 seconds. They seem pretty concentrated when they do this! I live in a condo and our AC doesn't connect to any neighbors or anything. But I can't help wondering what they're smelling and why they do it every single time the AC turns on...

My cats sniff the air from the AC as well.  In fact, all of my cats have done this.  It's perfectly normal.  Cats are quite sensitive to smell, orders of magnitude greater than even a bloodhound.  Smell provides kitties with valuable information about the world around them.  I suspect they are taking in the new scents that the AC brings into the house.

Mine too,she loves to smell the ac!!! she even lays by it lol
