i checked my cat’s pee today (we don’t use litter) and it was as dilute as water and had no odour. It wasn’t like this the day before. Is this a medical emergency? He’s due for a checkup with the vet this coming week.

Hello,
urine specific gravity depends on many factors. The most important one is the cat hydration. An healthy cat COULD concentrate urine a lot (they were desert animals afterall), but it doesn't mean it has to happen everytime: if he drinks a lot, then pee is very dilute.
Long story short: do not worry if it happens from time to time. Just check during next days

Generally, your real concern is when urine is TOO concentrated. That is the opposite of what is happening here. Unless he drinks so much that he messes up his electrolyte balance, which is very rare in cats, he should be just fine, so long as everything else is normal. DO mention it to your vet.
