I have two lovely cats. My Sarah is 2 years old, and Ras is her son and 7 months old.
Within the last couple of weeks Sarah has become extremely aggressive towards Ras. She hisses if he gets within a foot of her. He has to run passed her if he wants to get through at all.
I can't pinpoint what caused this sudden change in behavior. She used to lick him and love him!
They are both spayed/neutered.

Can you think of anything that changed between them or in your home when this started?  Is Ras healthy?  Sometimes a cat may get aggressive towards another when their is an illness present and they sense it.

Two articles:

Your younger kitten is an adolescent now (7 months), and mommy cats 1) become territorial and 2) treat them as an adult, a rival for territory, for awhile.  As long as they don't draw blood, there's no need to intervene if there is fighting/playing.  Let the animals work it out.
