The following is from the October 2011 edition of Orange Coast here in SoCal (Southern California). There is a section where readers pose questions, and the magazine responds. I thought you might find it of interest.
Question: Disneyland is famous for its mice. But is it also true they've got some hard-working felines?
Answer: Strange as it seems, the Anaheim theme park apparently welcomes cats. According to several Disneyland experts, after more than 100 feral cats were found in the rafters of Sleeping Beauty Castle, officials decided to let them stay, perhaps as a way to keep out unauthorized rodents. Sources say Disney regulates the cat population, and we've seen and fed a few near the Hungry Bear Restaurant.
But Disneyland spokeswoman Michele Himmelberg disapproves: "We treat all our animal guests to the same world-class service as our human guests. To keep them healthy and happy, we ask that visitors please avoid picking them up, giving them food, or approaching them".
