Cats eating African palm?

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I did search and didn't find much on cats eating plants. Anyways I'd like my cat to stop eating my plants. Any suggestions? Also, why do they insist on eating plants?

I read all 3 links. Thank you! Now I'll I need to do is find if this plant I just got is posisnous...the African palm. I also plan on raising the plant out of their reach. Thanks!
