Betsy, what a great space!  I love it! I really enjoyed the video.

 Your kitties are blessed, & you & your husband were a blessing to your friend to give her piece of mind that her cats would be well taken care of.

Thank you so much for the kind words.  It's been kind of crazy, but now we've had them for about a year and a half, and we're all adapting to our new lives.  :-)

Those are very nice looking steps.  Is there a hanger bar under the tread? Like a piece of  2x4 or something? If it's not too much trouble (and you don't mind me copying your idea

) could you post a photo of one of the steps straight on?

That's a great idea. I want to put cat shelving all around my new place.

Are they OK with wooden shelves, rather than carpeted ones? I've been looking at sticky carpet tiles so they have something to get their claws into.

The steps are just a part of the things they can play with or climb on, so they're okay with the wood.  They have carpeted trees and sisal scratching boards in other places for their claws.

Oh, thank you!  

   Sadly three of the four cats we took in from our friend have passed on now and Hannah's got the whole space to herself.  I've been thinking that once Hannah is gone, maybe I'll volunteer to foster cats now and then--that would be a great space for it.

That's a terrific idea.  I wish I had the room, I'd love to take in the siblings who always get separated.  Stunning job.  I'm sure they really enjoyed it.  Cheers
