Hello and happy new year!
It wasn't a very happy new year's eve for our cat though. He lives in our back alley and loves the place - lots of hiding spots, sunny spots in the afternoon, places he can climb and more. He got a new soft bed inside a cupboard and loves it, he can stay there for days, especially the colder ones.
He was fine on Dec. 31 in the evening, but the next morning we found he had injured his right paw. There was no blood and we don't think it was done by fighting with other cats. Looks like a finger was bent upward, maybe it got stuck somewhere. I'm not sure it's broken or just injured, but it looked purple. The purple colour is better now, but it still looks a bit swollen. And he keeps on licking it all the time.
I'm a bit worried though, because 2 days after the injury, he started having lots of mouth water and nose water (transparent, no colour at all). His nose looks brown now, I'm not sure it's due to the fact that the spot is always wet, or because he keeps on scratching it.
He doesn't look very good, he seems tired and sleepy (well, sleepier than a normal cat). From the first day on, we regularly disinfect the wound, but we are not sure we should take him to the vet, or just wait some more.
One more thing, the first day he was very irritable and we couldn't get near him. From the 2nd day on though he got better and we can now touch him, this allows us to check more closely and apply some disinfectant.
Thanks for your help!
