I'm trying to switch Chloe back to a raw diet or at least half and half with the Honest Kitchen. She simply refuses to eat chicken and cornish hen. The only meat I've had success is her eating beef. Has anyone else had trouble convincing a cat to eat a certain meat? I read that beef shouldn't be fed too often as it is very fatty.

Yeah.... and it is. (beef = fatty). *sigh* I have one kitty that doesn't eat much variety in meat. He LOVES red meats: beef, lamb, venison. Of course, the venison is good for him and low fat, but I can't afford to feed it as anything but an infrequent part of the protein rotation. :lol3:

I can get him to each chicken breast (HATES thigh and cornish hen) if I cut it into bite-sized pieces, sprinkle freeze-dried salmon that I powder over it and shake around to completely coat it - and I use the firmest parts of it (and feed the other cats the softer stuff).

What you *might* want to consider doing, if you can afford it (because these treats are EXPENSIVE), is try the Origen Bison treats. They crush into powder-ish crumbles easily. If Chloe likes the treats, you can do the same thing I do - completely coat small bite-sized pieces to alter the smell.

:dk:

But I would say that 60% - 70% of Lazlo's diet is red meat. Not the best, but... at least cats do well with high fat diets. And I think a main concern with it is weight gain. So if you adjust the amount to account for the calories - just keep an eye on her weight while you figure out how to introduce other proteins and get her eating them. IMO. ;)

Oh - what about pork? Lazlo hates it, but most cats love it. If you buy loin on sale and trim it, it's got a similar fat profile to chicken these days.

My brother decided to buy Weruva (he believes cats should eat many flavors/types of food as long as it's high quality). She enjoys eating the chicken flavors and the Honest Kitchen is chicken too. But she wont touch raw chicken. Maybe I should try different parts of chicken... I'm thinking about coating the chicken with honest kitchen and cutting it into really tiny pieces. Cats bring out the creativity in us ;D

Does anyone know of a Hare Today that's for the west coast? Hare today doesn't seem cost effective unless you buy in bulk...

Really? I'll have to try pork :D
Chloe doesn't like Rabbit?
I think she's ok with rabbit. I was hoping she would enjoy eating chicken since it's cheap :p
