we have a female ragdoll she is 1 year. Always has been great with her litter box.

Today we discovered she peed on my wife’s shoes in our closet. Of course the laminate floor and now it’s bubbled :/ right before we are listing our house for sale.

Why would she do this?
Changes would be-
1. Had her first thunderstorm today
2. Our dog got sprayed by a skunk 4 days ago so House was smelly
3. Her water fountain broke 2 days ago... replacement coming tomorrow. This was in the closet by not by the shoes

The first concern with inappropriate peeing is always an underlaying medical problem. The best course of action is to have the vet run an urinalysis and a general check. Just to make sure it isn't driven by a physical cause.

After that is ruled out, stress reaction is the next cause. It does sound like there are some stress related items that could have caused the reaction. Any one of them or even the combination of them could have caused it. Since skunk is unlikely to repeat soon (one hopes) and the water fountain is coming back soon both of those are low concern items. The thunderstorm would be one of those things you'd want to watch for and try to mointor her behavior during. You can try feliway for the home, some people have had success with that. Hopefully it will be one of those one off it was a stress reaction.

Do remember to clean the closet and shoes with an enzyme cleaner such as Nature's Miracle. You don't want her to start thinking of the closet as a litter box by smelling the pee.

Yes, I would definitely say she needs to see a vet, and please keep the closet door closed.;):)
