I have a weird question - I understand WHY cats do this and my cat has recently started doing this A LOT.   I dont like to push him away cause I want him to sit on my lap but he hurts me!!!!  Hes a pretty big cat.

Could he be doing any damage to me by pressing so deeply on my stomach?

thanks

More of a human health question than cat behavior, but it's unlikely that he's causing any significant damage.  Hopefully you can redirect him by putting some soft material he likes in your lap.  I have a weak back too, and I'm always slouching.  Time for us to learn good posture and sit up straight! :D

I doubt he is pressing any harder than a doctor does during a physical.

Try putting a blanket over you or wear heavier clothing..

My dainty girl cat kneads me all the time and it doesn't bother me unless i'm laying down and she starts kneading my face.

Our persian male cat is a bigger cat with big, fat, meaty paws, and when he kneads, it HURTS! I can only take about 4 or 5 kneads before I push him off my lap, lol.

It shouldn't hurt you unless he turns into a kung fu master with iron fists. I think the blanket idea is good.
