Hey guys,
I discovered that my cat (3 years old, male, domestic shorthair, neutered) had bladder stones on Sunday evening, and he had surgery to remove them Monday at 11am. They called me at 2pm to tell me he was up and fine and that I could pick him up at 7pm later that day. He was on an IV until 7pm, and I got him home at around 7:30pm.
Ever since he got home, he's been in his litter non-stop trying to pee and trying to lick down there (but he has an e-collar on). He only ate a little bit of wet food that I put on his spoon and the antibiotics before we went to sleep. This morning however, he refuses to eat or drink anything, even if i put it on a spoon and give it to him. I don't think he has drank water at all since he has come home, and all he's been doing is lying under the chair and not moving. His tail is down, and he only moves to go to the litter, sits there for a long time, and then goes back under the chair. I also don't think he is peeing. I called the vet and he said if he doesn't or drink anything, to bring him in tonight.
Is this normal behaviour after a bladder stone removal surgery (cystotomy)? He has a complete personality change -- he is usually really friendly, and nosy, and now his tail is down and he refuses to move. I'm worried out of my mind about him right now..... Does anyone have experience with their cat after this surgery? Any help would be appreciated!
