We have good water here and he has not come in contact with any chemicals. I am at a loss of what to do, He used to be very furry.
We are giving him itrafungol oral medicine but nothing works. His skin is very dry and his hair came out in clumps. He is eating well and drinking .

Skin issues with Cats are tough to diagnose, The dry skin is possibly causing the fur loss from scratching mainly because it’s so dry and itchy, but it’s figuring out whats causing the dry skin. Have you had his thyroid examined?

That was also my first thought.

Something else to throw into the melting pot.

Some spot-on flea preparations can cause skin irritations. This is why our Kira has to get flea treatment in pill form from our vet. It was something I didn't know about until our vet told me.

Did your Vet do a skin scraping to figure out exactly what type of fungus this is? Have you been to a feline dermatologist? I would check out those avenues for assistance. Poor baby. Is he scratching incessantly?

Vinegar and water spray bath, and coconut oil body rub down.
One part vinegar to 20 parts water, afterward rub him down with coconut oil. Do not spray his face, wet your hands and wipe down his face staying away from eyes and nose.
Natural anitfungals and moisturizers. Vinegar actually hepls restore the skins ph balance.
I'd wrap him up in some sort of cat pj's after the coconut oil.

My wife tried the vinegar and coconut oil before he lost all his hair . Maybe will try that again. The vet did a skin scrape and thought it is a possible fungal infection, that is why we are giving him a anti fungal shampoo and oral fungal medicine.
He does not scratch very much at all . Just wants to be on a heating pad.
I don't think the vet knows what is wrong with the cat.

Maybe it's the heating pad? The cover to the pad? The detergant you use to wash it with?
A friend of mine had a weiner dog that constantly sat on the heating duct and it caused scally skin and loss of fur. I told her about coconut oil and not long after it's fur started growing back.
He still sat on the heating duct but with the oil it didn't cause his skin to essencially burn dry from the heat.

He used to look like this , it all happened in the last 3 months
Poor thing, I hope he gets better soon 🤗 I don’t know what could be causing this, maybe it is an underlying disease, an inflammatory reaction, a thyroid problem, an allergy, I’m including this link which list causes of alopecia in cats in case you haven’t read it. Can you try a specialist dvm?
Hair Loss (Alopecia) in Cats - Cat Owners - Merck Veterinary Manual
Maybe it is autoimmune? Something like eczema?

Please don't put vinegar with his skin so raw. That will sting over his whole body. I would be concerned over him going into shock over the pain.

Vinegar is usually used as a flea repellent and even then it's very uncomfortable for cats.

If it's not diluted properly, yes. Diluted @20 it becomes a very gental astringent.
The coconut oil rub afterward would eliminate any irritation.

f he's laying on the heating pad SINCE he's lost all his fur I'm thinking it's because he's cold without that fur coat. I'd be cold too.

Since the skin scraping was inconclusive and the meds are not working, I'd definitely look for a dermatologist or have your Vet discuss his case with one or with the nearest Vet University. Or even get a 2nd opinion from a different Vet if none of the above are available. If you do that, be sure to take the results of the skin scraping.

I really hope this is not the case with your cat but my dog had scales and sores and began losing his hair, and unfortunately it was cancer. Could the vet biopsy an area? :hugs:
