I know where he is.
And its not his first time... but its frustrating.

OK so I got careless and he got out.
5 feet/3 meter away from my door.
Note that i am in Japan where houses are lined in cramp fashion.
So to add detail.
I got careless taking trash out and left door open longer than i should have. He went into play mode and got out, realized his own mistake and bolted for his hidey-hole (from 1st run away). Its a weird spot b.c it has this concrete-base chainlink fence that has a bit of space between the house (that he is hiding under) and the fence. But its too narrow to get my arm in to get him.

So not his 1st time and i know where he is, what's so frustrating?
He wont come out like the 1st time.
1st time he got out and hid there, I periodically called for him.
He finally popped out and came running when I said "Are you hungry?" like i always do when its his meal time.

I've been doing that...
I've been walking outside asking if he's hungry for every 15minutes.
He answers from under the house.
I have to go back inside b.c its still cold.
repeat....
For past 6 hours.

Trapping is not something i can do b.c Japan doesn't have that system.
And I'm sitting here, with him being so close... yet so far.....

Anyone got suggestions?

Can you set out a dish of his favorite food so that he can see it, yet it's far enough from his hiding spot? I assume he will decide to come out on his own when hunger wins, but I realize how frustrating this is for you. Hopefully he will decide to come out soon. Keep trying with yummy food. Maybe get something really stinky such as tuna or another stinky fish. That might lure him out.

When Demi escaped, the only thing that brought him back was a plate of dry food. I grabbed him while he was eating it.

Does he eat treats? I take a treat box outside and shake it if I want my cats to come in.

Yep, every cat has that special food. For Hekitty, it is the water drained from a can of tuna. Just go out with his favorite food, and see if that does the trick.

He really likes chicken puree treat.
I tried it and he got comfortable enough to come out greet me and be all friendly and got busy eating.
So i tried to grab him but he slipped out and now is wary of me.

He'll still answer tho.
but now he refuses to come out and eat. UUUuuggggh.

The exact same thing happened with Benji, except there was a spot under the counter he went into and he tried to go into the wall. We left out wet food and tried to grab him but he ran away. Then we left more out and we walked out of the room. As he was eating it we quickly aproached him and made sure he was okay.

Patience is key, my friend! Remember to keep calm.
