My 7 year old long-hair has goopy eyes. They're not infected, but her eyes are constantly watering. The secretions are brown and kind of runny. She doesn't like me touching her eyes (obviously) and they're not accompanied by anything else, but I'm getting kind of tired of wrestling her to get the crusties off her face and now the fur around her eyes is stained brown and starting to show signs of feline acne. Any ideas? I'd like to treat the problem, not the symptoms, but I'm not sure what to try.

Many cats with more of a pushed in face (like the persians) will have chronic eye problems. Not much you can do but keep it clean. Sadly its an ongoing problem.

Perhaps some of the Persian breeders/owners in here can give you more advice on what works with them.

Could it be allergies? If so, you might try giving her L-Lysine to help boost her immune system. It helps when my kitties get watery eyes due to airborne allergens.
