If he's still eating litter, you might consider something else to feed him, and maybe even changing the litter if he's ok with that (some cats aren't).

You've agreed to the monthly shot, I assume that's for his arthritis?

I've heard/read good things about that, my vet even went so far as to say that he rarely if ever calls something new a miracle, but this arthritis shot (solensia) really is.

What type of litter is it? If it's clay, sometimes cats eat that because they are anemic? Do you have the results of the blood work aside from the high WBC? Sometimes anemia and high WBC go together, but low RBC is the more accurate way to judge. Did the Vet mention what his RBC was. How about the PCV? Those two things kind of go together.

Funny, my cat was at the Vet today and my Vet also discussed possibly using Solensia. She too thinks it's a miracle drug. But we can't figure out if my furbaby really needs it or not since he isn't really showing any signs of arthritis at home. I guess an xray might be in order.

How was your cat's red blood cell counts? As mentioned above, sometimes, cats will eat litter due to anemia. Or, it could be due to a mineral/vitamin deficiency, which might require further blood work. This kind of deficiency can mean improper absorption in the digestive system.

I get the antibiotics due to the high white blood cell count - often indicative of an infection. But did the vet say what the steroids were for? That is not for his arthritis, is it? I know some of the members above mentioned arthritis specific treatments, like Solensia - but I wasn't sure whether something like that was also being given, or if the steroids are for arthritis.

His red blood cell count is OK
The vet said he isn't anemic it is just his wbc
I think the steroids are for his wbc
The vet said he doesn't need any vitamins

I'm hoping he's doing well when you call and he can come home soon. :)
I would definitely switch litters, especially if you're using anything clumping. Please keep us updated on how he is doing!

Since bringing sandy home he has been eating and drinking OK
He has to take some clavaseptin pal tabs

And some prednisone tablets
He has to go back to the vets on Friday
I asked about his arthritis the vet said they are more concerned about his high wbc
