Old textbooks make great cat stairs, you have so many options with them - width, height etc. If your cat doesn't eat plastic you can secure them with plastic wrap, which is good if water bowls are involved. Masking tape and duck tape also work well.

Or, varying sized boxes - assuming that your cat is not like Feeby (Miss Chubby) who would smash most of them if not filled with something!

Thanks everyone, I am glad I learned about my cat being a bush cat, it now makes a lot of sense and help me to make her happier. I bought her an IKEA tunnel, which she LOVES for playing and sleeping. Box is gone, but she might get it as an occasional treat!
