My cat Tommy is 21 years old. He has megacolon and stage 2 ckd, but both managed good. And he now has this big lump on his lower bottom left jaw. Waiting for the histo, he has stopped eating so I've been syringe feeding him. My vet gave me 3 days worth of pain meds, 2 weeks of antibiotics. But nothing else. I have also started him a week ago on CBD oil. Does prednisone work to help the inflammation? What can I ask the vet for to make him more comfortable till that time comes....

I had a cat that died at twelve years old from a jaw tumor and it was squamous cell carcinoma. This was back in 2004. His name was Pepper. He was given one month and he lived nine months. I did the tumor removal and part of his jaw but it came back.
I was living with my mom at the time and we were handfeeding him soft food all the time and he still lost weight but was active u til the last day or two.
I'm sorry for your diagnosis it's an aggressive cancer.
Kat I'm sorry tommy isn't feeling great. Prednisone does help with inflammation I don't remember if pepper was on it or not.
Tommy's gorgeous. 21 is a great age, the oldest cat I had was 20. Another was 19. Now they only make it to 14-16.
All my cats now have recently died of cancer.

Well, vet called and said it was cancer. She thinks for this type of cancer the prednisone won't work but to give it a try and if he gets to uncomfortable to bring him in so we can put him too sleep.
