My cat is afraid of her water dish. I realize many cats are afraid of water, but she seems to be scared to death of her water dish and the metal sink in my kitchen. At first I thought the sink scared her because it resembles the examination counter at the vet's office (where she trembles).
I'd like her to drink more water and I don't like her getting it from the tub after I shower or from the slight drip of the faucet, so I got her one of those waterfall geegaws where the water trickles down an incline and is recirculated.
I'm trying to understand what thinking is going on in that peach pit of a brain of hers. I adopted her from a shelter about 7 years ago and she's always been reluctant to go near a water dish (although she does enjoy smacking the heck out of it so that all the water goes flying).
Any ideas? I mention it to the vet and he gets all cryptic. This isn't a debate on an article of faith, I just want to know how to get my cat to drink more water and why she's afraid of sinks and water dishes and how can I de-afraid her?
