I got silly question to cat behavior specialists
Me and my wife got a 2 months old Roger
My wife brought him from her friend early in the morning after her night shift.
He was scared of course, so we placed him in our bedroom, closed the door and left him there in peace. I went to work and my wife stayed home.
When I come back after 8 hours. My wife was lying on the bed with Roger on her side totally stretched lying on his back
Of course when he saw me was a bit scared but I was new to him. Now he is totally friendly affectionate , always is around us, lies on my desk when I'm doing something on pc to pet him etc.

The thing is that I think he still likes my wife more after one month with us

When we go to sleep he lies more on her side (when the first day I saw him).
When my wife leaves to work in the morning he lies by the door and meow a bit
When my wife comes back from work even when I'm with him he runs to her. When I'm coming back from work and my wife is home with him he doesn't react much.

So my question is. Is it possible that this first day we got him and because I wasn't around his first moments in our house and my wife was is it why he likes her more ?

Do you both spend equal amount of time with him? Do you both share responsibilities, like feeding, scooping, etc.?

I spend the most time with our three cats, I feed them, clean their boxes and do all the play times. My husband plays with them once in a while. They are all very bonded with me. Pandora sleeps on my side, Lilly usually sleeps in between us or on my side and Hurley sleeps in one of the cat trees in the living room (his choice).

My brother found Buddy and Buddy prefers him to anyone else. When he comes through the door, he runs like a dog to go see him. It is pretty cute and endearing and my brother enjoys the attention.

He will go equally to everyone, but if my brother is there, he'll be with him. I think I understand how he feels - my brother took him in, got him vet care, gave him nourishment and a warm, safe place to live where he pretty much rules the roost. I'd be really grateful too!
I think they remember their first interactions with their new families and those feelings "stick". It does not lessen their affection for everyone else. Buddy is "equal opportunity", but he certainly has a favorite. Some cats prefer men to women and vice versa. Mysterious little creatures, aren't they?

A lot of my kitties have favorites, but not all of them.
Shadey, Osiris, Azizi, Elliott and Teyah love everyone. Nova is VERY much Daddy's boy, but Dana had Nova before we got together. Cleo II has also really taken to Dana. Imhotep and Pria are my cats through and through and always want to be with me.
