I saw a post awhile back that I thinkm had apple cider and baking soda for cleaning cat smells from carpet. Does anyone remember this formula?
White vinegar diluted half with water works very well to get pet smells out. I usually just let it sit and then blot with a damp cloth, but a lot of people like to sprinkle baking soda on top and let it react. Have not heard of using apple cider vinegar for that purpose.
i also read that you can add a natural scented oil to this mixture have you seen anything about that
This thread reminds me, I came across a local raw food brand that adds 2% ACV to their dog and cat foods. Might try adding some to Xena's supplement mix to see if it does anything for her chronic respiratory symptoms. I don't see how it could possibly help, but if it's safe maybe it's worth a shot.
Good point. I do buy the stronger vinegar labelled "cleaning vinegar", but I still use it in salad dressings and marinades (just using less). I also use it diluted to soak/clean fresh fruits and veggies. You can also buy a higher acidic concentration of vinegar and use it for cleaning. The cleaners that turn most of our apartments swear by a concoction of, I think, eight percent acidic white vinegar and Dawn. It will eat up soap scum like nothing else will.
thank you, I will use the white vinegar and baking soda mix this weekend also adding the essential lemongrass oil to the mixWhite vinegar diluted half with water works very well to get pet smells out. I love the smell of lemongrass, but be aware that most essential oils are toxic to cats.thank you, I will use the white vinegar and baking soda mix this weekend also adding the essential lemongrass oil to the mix
