Hello. New member here-I've been reading this forum for a while and it seems that there are genuine cat lovers and perhaps someone can help me.
My Baby Boo is almost 5 months old. On Saturday we took him to the vet for his rabies shot, final 'kitten vaccine' and some pre anesthetic blood work prior to him being neutered.
He was fine when we got home, and for the rest of the day. Sunday morning he was ok, but by noon he was lethargic and wasn't eating or drinking. He developed a fever and was trembling.
First thing Monday morning we took him to the vet, where they promptly started pushing fluids. He had lost weight and his fever spiked at around 41 deg. Celsius. (Approx. 105 Farenheit).
Bloodwork was done to rule out leukemia and FIV (the tests were negative). The doctor kept Boo in overnight and started him on antibiotics and appetite stimulants.
Boo came home Tuesday night and was a little slow and tired, and we expected that.
He ate a bit and rested. Today (Wednesday) he was a little playful in the morning, being his curious self. But as the day progressed his lethargy came back. He now won't eat, drink or go to the washroom.
He sleeps almost all the time. We force fed an appetite stimulant, but so far it doesn't seem to have kicked in.
I sit here typing this, scared, crying and not sure what to do next. Money is an issue as the vet bill for just under 36 hours was over $800 and I don't know what to do.
I know he is still ill and I didn't expect that when he came homehe would be his usual chipper self, but aside fromthe fever not returning, nothing has changed. The vet said he has a virus...but that was all I could get from her.
Has anyone here ever had their little fur baby go through this? Any advice?
I'm terrified to lose this precious bundle of joy.
