Can Advocate remove ear mites?

Hi, I recently bought an adult cat, and it looks like he may have some ear mites. Would existing ear mites normally go away if I use Advocate? Advocate's description says it helps with ear mites too.

From my experience, the topical meds will help preventing ear mites but may not be enough to deal with existing infestation. I’d take the cat to the vet to advise, but most probably the ear ointment will be necessary
