I have two indoor/outdoor females taken off the streets about six years ago. They came together and are heavily bonded. Tigger favors me a bit and Mephy favors my wife. Tonight, for the first time in six years, Tigger sat curled on my wife's lap, a position
always reserved for Mephy. Mephy started to hiss at Tigger, something she has never done. It seems obvious to me that this
is a case of pure jealousy. But I'm no expert and might be missing something. Would like to get some feedback. Thanks!

PS Tigger just got back from missing for 10 days

Is it maybe because Tigger still has some unfamiliar scent with him that he got from outside?

I also believe cats also get jealous. My Graham runs to me when she sees I am petting or talking to Bourbon or Barley. Then makes sure she gets my attention.

Yes I think they do get jealous my grandson's cat will hiss if his sister's cat sits near him. He has to put himself in the middle so he can pet them both. But it could also be he smells different after his adventure.
