I have been meaning to post this for some time now.
I have 3 cats. Bo, Zazi, and Mimi. All female. All spayed.
Bo was our first cat. We got Zazi to keep her company and while it was not a love at first sight introduction there was no fighting and they eventually became best friends. Bo was default topcat.
Then we got Mimi a year later. Zazi and Mimi started to get along very well quite quickly. Bo and mimi took a lot longer. Mimi was keen on Bo but Bo didn't like Mimi. And would hiss at her a lot. Bo being older was still topcat and Zazi ... well she's sort of a nurse cat. very maternal and not interested in being in a position of power and influence.
Anyway, there was never any fighting. Our cats are a pretty non-agressive bunch... There is always some play fighting between Mimi and Zazi but nothing serious.
When Mimi came back from the vet after being spayed she was put in a victorian collar and the collar totally wigged Bo out. She was hissing at Mimi all over again and it took a while for her to get used to Mimi in the collar ... even when it came off there was some hissing.
So anyway... 2 years down the line Mimi has started attacking Bo. No growling or anything. But if Bo is on a chair, even if Mimi doesn't actually want to sit there she will sometimes jump up behind her and chase her off the chair. She will also do this when Bo wants to come into a room. She will stare at her until she decides not to.
Obviously Bo is no longer topcat. But lately she's been picking on Bo. We don't know what to do. We try not to interfere but at the same time we just want them to get along.
Mimi will, if i carry Bo up to her lick Bo, but Bo will never lick Mimi back. I so wish i could call a cat therapist but there are none in the UAE!!!!
