We recently started putting a collar on our cat Leela. She is a 5 year old Himalayan so she has long fur. She now wears a collar because we got her a microchip bowl to keep her food safe from the kitten and the collar has her microchip to open it. She has been getting a lot of matting around the collar even though I take it off frequently and brush her. Her most recent one caused a small sore. Any advice on the best collars for long fur??

A rolled leather collar is what you use on dogs to keep the hair from breaking or matting, but I've never put a collar on my cats.
