I feed my cat a lot of uneatable bones, that keep her occupied for a long time. A few days ago something happened that made her really afraid (found her under the sofa, with eyes that seemed to be pupills only.....), and It seems to work to feed her bones that she loves, and makes her think of something else than being afraid.
I gave her a big bone at new years eve, and had a very calm cat the following morning. I found the bone under the bed in the guest-room.....
