I have a 18mth kitten. I let her lick some custard out of the inside of the cardboard container. When I picked it up there was tiny blood specks all over the cardboard. I checked her mouth but could see any visible bleeding? Is this common? Is this anything to worry about?

I would say this is NOT common. I've honestly never heard of anything like this before, but would certainly keep an eye on it and if you continue to see blood specks occuring, then I would take her in to be checked out by a professional. Maybe you could put some of her food on a piece of white paper or something in order to monitor it better.
