So our cat, Catfish, broke his ankle three weeks ago. He's been splinted since then. The dr was able to set without any surgery. His splint is up to his hip. We have kept him in a room with food and water and a litter box. Eating, drinking and elimination has been normal. He had a splint change (again no surgery) about one week ago. He has seemed less active and somewhat depressed since then but we thought that was normal, given that he was a very active one year old before this.
The injury was getting caught in a grill type shelf, so there was no fall from a great height or anything, and anyway he's been totally normal for the last three weeks. Never has been one to throw up at all.
Last night he threw up his food. All of it. And then I found bile throw up by his litter box. And now he just threw up bile pink tinged, obviously blood.
What could POSSIBLY be going on here? He's going to the vet but I am beyon distraught. He has already cost us ~ $1000. Could the splinting somehow be causing internal bleeding????? What is going ON?
Feeling very desperate. We cannot afford much more.
