My 3 or 4 year old male DLH has bright red blood in his stool in varying quantities. One time it looked like a crime scene, there was so much.
He does not appear to be constipated or straining when he poops. His blood has been tested twice (GI panel), the first test showed overactive bacteria, so he was given antibx and then probx. After all that finished, I think the blood was gone for a bit but then it returned. Vet just did second blood test, and all came back normal. His appetite is good, he seems to drink a lot of water and his weight has been steady. So they are basically throwing up their hands and blaming it on constipation. I am just nervous though, every time I see the blood in the litter box I wonder if it really something benign or not. Should I be pursuing this further? Possibly with a different vet? TIA.
