Black gunk on skin between paw pads. Vet thinks it's nothing.

Well, I was at an Internal Medicine vet for a different reasons (possibly IBD/lymphoma which he thinks is a misdiagnosis from the ER), and happened to show him the dew claw because I noticed it the night before. He was the one that showed the surgeon and suggested amputation first. This is also the same time the convenia injection was given. There was no further investigation into the issue and the pad wasn't looked at. I was told to follow up with my primary - that's a whole other story. I don't think I can take her to anymore vets for a while. She lost trust in me and now I can't tell if she's not feeling well or just depressed. She isn't even really eating since coming back from the ER last night (she didn't have a bowel movement in 6 days - again, they think Im crazy because her x-ray was normal and wound up defecating there). She's hiding from me, now, skittish around me, doesn't really want to play, etc. My heart feels so broken that I put her through all of this when in reality the multiple vet appointments are because no one is looking at her issues from a whole body perspective and I have to keep going back. Everyone is treating one symptom and dismissing her, and then something else is popping up, and I can't even get an appointment with the same vet because of the long waiting lists. I think I need to let her lay low for a while and see if she perks up on her own - maybe continue to give probiotics for her gut, and continue to give CBD for any pain or to increase her appetite. I have slippery elm here too for that but haven't tried it yet.

I have a sphynx that always had this problem and it is bacteria. Use L-Lysine and it will clear that up almost instantly. Topical and added in powder form to their wet food. Also, spray it in their ears with L-Lysine spray.

Hi

Realise you posted this a few years ago, but did you get a solution? I have a cat who is just over a year old & has what looks like the same problem. I’m not really getting anywhere with his vet & am pretty much at my wits end. His paw is so sore looking & he’s had an e collar on for just about a week with no improvement. Would really appreciate if u could let me no if ur lil guy recovered & what was done to help him.

Thanks

Gill

Okay, I use the powder( NOW PETS L-Lysine Immune System Support Cat Supplement, 8-oz jar - Chewy.com) his wet food daily but not too much, When I bathe him I spray his ears and feet with the spray above and do not wipe. Leave it on his skin as long as possible. Do this several times the first time. You are killing the bacteria from the inside and outside. Basically, you are correcting his diet function and he will be able to process his foods better and increase his immunity system. There are hundreds of benefits to supplementing yourself with L-Lysine, more than you know. The medical industry can not make a profit on L-Lysine to recommend it. It will not hurt you or your cat. It is an essential nutrient needed for everyone including cats- Check your food labeling and confirm the food contains L-Lysine- Your cat has a deficiency like so many others and it is very easy and inexpensive to correct.

hi there!!
i was wondering if there is a way I can contact you to ask a few questions?? I have a cat who looks identical to yours and is experiencing the same issue with the black gunk and is also having skin problems. I have been to multiple vets and specialist, tried a list of many different things and nothing has worked or helped. I am so lost and not sure what to do or try anymore. I feel bad because I know my girl is uncomfortable but I have no idea how to help her or what it even is. I would love to chat and see if you have found anything that has worked!
