I have a 16 week old kitten that is currently being treated for ear mites. The mites are improving, however since starting the treatment, little black dots have appeared around her ears. Are they mites? Is it oil build up from the treatment going in her ears? Any ideas as to what’s going on? I just want to know how worried I should be.

Mites could look like small black dots and wax looks like coffee grounds. Of course I only use Holistic remedies. Here is my favorite:

½ an ounce of Almond Oil
400 IU’s of Vitamin E
Eye dropper
Small bowl
Cotton balls

Combine the Almond Oil and the vitamin E in a small bowl.
Fill the eye dropper halfway and administer this amount in each ear.
Massage the ears at the base to ensure the mixture fully reaches all areas of the ears.
Remove any excess debris or wax with a cotton ball.
Repeat this remedy every other day for at least one week for best results.
Monitor the condition of your cat’s ears and repeat for another week as needed.

I've also used Organic Coconut Oil. These soothe sore ears from scratching and don't burn like traditional remedies. No chemicals needed!

I'd send the picture to the vet for asessment of what the little dots are. It may be related to the ear mite issue or may be a separate issue.
