My three amigos have their birthday today and was thinking about a birthday meal of chopped chicken hearts purchased from a local grocery store.

Being that my cats eat NV raw daily do you think they would be okay if I just thoroughly wash them or should I do a quick sautee just to cook off any potential nasties on the surface?

Or, what a sweet idea! I do the same for Ritz, give her something special for her two birthdays (the day we rescued her from the streets and the day I adopted her).
I think they'll be fine without doing a quick sautee. But I wouldn't wash them--I've read that can introduce nasties that weren't previously there.
That said, I'd pay full price for the hearts, as fresh as possible. (I typically buy grocery store meats @ 1/3 or 1/2 off because they are at the "sell by" date.)
Hearts are somewhat high in sodium, so don't be alarmed if your cats drink a little more water than normal.
