Hi there, nice to meet you! I’m glad I found this site!
I’m trying to find a food I can give my 8 year old female cat just diagnosed with IBD (Inflammatory bowel disease) a week ago. The vet put her on Prednisolne (steroid), and changed her diet. The vet said to feed her Hill’s d/d canned food or Royal Canin selected protein canned food which she absolutely hates.
I noticed she was rather thin. She was down to 7 pounds from her normal 9 pounds. Pretty much skin and bones for her size… Our vet said to just feed her whatever she would eat. So she eats the Hill’s w/d canned food.
I don’t want to continue feeding her the w/d, because my cat used to eat the w/d, before she’s started to vomit in January this year.
I’ve been reading a lot of articles about feline IBD, and found that some cats with IBD do very well on a raw meat diet. I thought it would be worth trying a raw diet. So I asked our vet’s opinion about it, but the vet didn’t recommend a raw diet at all. The vet told me to find any good quality diet for my cat.
So I guess I need to stick with canned foods.
If you know what brand of canned food is good for a cat with IBD, please let me know. Or if you have a cat with IBD, what brands have you found that works for your cat?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for taking the time to read my story!
