Aza, our 9month old rescue girl had us worried today, we came home to find her in trouble and with a vaginal discharge, I remembered something about this being a real problem and a quick look at the net confirmed this so we ran next door to the vet who did an emergency spay and now we are all back home recovering

Has anyone else been through this? any advice

If it was caught early enough, just removing the whole mess should be enough, and probably some antibiotics just to be safe (is she on antibiotics?). It's fortunately very easily cured as long as it hasn't gone on so long that the infection gets in the bloodstream.

Our vet showed us what he removed, the whole mess was intact and not leaking but apparently swollen to 15 times normal and of course she is on antibiotics. We spnt the night sleeping on the floor with Aza between us but today the operation site looks normal, she has eaten, drank and used the toilet so with a little help from on high we are starting down the road to recovery. The surgery took about 2hours and cost UAH1200 which is about 50% more than a normal spay and translates to about 50$
