Recently a lovely little rescue joined my life and has bonded wonderfully with my other young male kitten, Tommy and slowly our 5 year old (very in charge and territorial) female Maggie is coming around to the idea.

Both Luna and Tommy are around 5-6 months old (Tommy was a feral I socialised and poor Luna was dumped in a box at 3 weeks of age and spent the next many months in pounds and finally a rescue, so their ages are not 100%).

I'm asking this question as one thing that sets Luna and Tommy apart is their huge size difference. Both as far as I am aware are DSH and despite looking both very different their size difference really does set them apart.

Tommy is not larger than average (by much) though Luna seems very small for his age? Of course they could just be growing at a different pace, though I'm wondering how much longer little Luna has to go until he will be reaching his mature size!
(here are some photos to show what I mean - also some cuteness spam from a proud mummy - Luna is the black one and Tommy ginger).

They’re so cute! Cats usually stop growing when they are a year old, except for the giant breeds (Maine Coon, Norwegian Forest Cat, Siberian, Ragdoll) who keep growing until they are about four years. Lovely Luna might simply be a naturally smaller cat.

Welcome to TCS! :welcomesign: Glad you joined the forum and I completely agree with abyeb abyeb that cats generally stop growing after a year with the exception of some of the larger breeds.

Thank you for rescuing your adorable kittens, Luna and Tommy. They are both precious and it's nice to hear they have become best buddies. :greenpaw::bluepaw: It sounds like Maggie rules the roost and will keep them in line. ;)

You may want to introduce yourself and your cats in the thread, New Kids on the Block here: New Cats on the Block
