Hello all,
My adopted special needs fur-baby that I've been posting about a lot will be going to see two specialists on Tuesday at 9:00am. We are driving 3.5 hours to see these doctors. First, she will see the internal medicine specialist who will look into her chronic stuffiness and nasal discharge that hasn't responded to antibiotics and has basically been there since we got her with calicivirus. Then, the same specialist will do a heart ultrasound to see if her heart is ok for surgery because she does have a grade 3 heart murmur.
After, she will see the dental specialist to figure out what's happening in her mouth. Our home vet isn't sure if she has stomatitis, gingivitis, or tooth resorption. All we know is her gums are red and inflamed and she drools a lot. Depending on what is found, she might have some teeth extracted or all teeth extracted and will then stay overnight.
I'm nervous, to say the least. She's my best friend. She is almost 10 now and is such a cute smooshy-face (she's a persian). I worry about her a lot and caring for her has basically been a full time job in and of itself. I didn't know I was getting a sick cat until I showed up to pick up the retired breeding cat I was told would be healthy. I couldn't leave her there. She has come a LONG way since I got her (put on three pounds, plays a lot, eats well, and her fur has grown back). I'm hoping the specialists can help us with these last few issues.
Could you please keep her in your prayers on Tuesday and maybe Wednesday too as she recovers? I would really appreciate it. I don't care from which faith the prayers come from. If you're atheist, just good wishes would be fine too.
