IGRs are pretty harmless, or at least Precor is. I got the tiny bottle on Amazon that you mix yourself, I think it was $9. I won’t know if it worked well until a few weeks later but I still feel great about that sweet, sweet price.
By the way...the Capstar worked better than the Advantage ever did. I wonder if Advantage just doesn’t work well in my area. ALL the shelters around here use it so maybe the local fleas are resistant. Capstar also seemed to work for longer than 24 hours. I gave her a bath a full day after her first dose and got all the dead fleas out of her fur. I was very, very thorough and they were all dead. Hours later new fleas were hopping onto her from wherever they were hiding and dropping dead. Every time she got up from a nap there were dead fleas under her. It was cathartic.
