Goblin is a herpes kitty and usually when he has a flare up, I supplement with L-lysine per his vet's instruction. When I noticed a goopy eye yesterday, I went to get the tube of Viralys and realized it was expired. I'd seen powdered L-lysine in health food stores, and so I figured it was probably something my local holistic pet store carried. But the owner told me that she doesn't carry it because she does not have a reputable source that carries L-lysine without additives and so it does not pass her strict quality control of her products. Instead, she called a holistic vet for me and I was recommended to use something called Vibactra Plus.
Does anyone have experience using this, especially in the case of feline herpes? I can't seem to find much information on the Web about it. The instructions say to give four times daily, but Goblin HATES IT. He won't go near his food if I try to sneak in even a few drops, and I can't stomach the thought of forcing it down his throat four times a day, especially if I'm not reasonably confident that it's going to help.
Any info/personal use testimonials would be greatly appreciated!
