hi everyone,
i was just wondering if anyone else here has a siamese cat that throws up often? she used to throw up every single day without fail. it was like she ate her food too fast and it swelled in her tummy and then came out like a tube shape. we tried feeding her in smaller amounts throughout the day, we tried feeding her on a plate so she would eat slower. none of these things worked. we have experimented and tried different foods and now it seems that she throws up 2-4 times a week. we have seen different vets for the problem and one said maybe it was irritable bowel and gave us meds, i can't remember what they were, but they had to be split in 1/4's so there were 2 sides exposed. this DID NOT go over well. there was a lot of huffing and blowing and foaming! i tried to give her one, and that was it! i couldn't imagine putting her through that stress every day! my vet now suggested that we get food that had a different source of protein that she would normally get, like a food with venison and sweet potato or something like that. she is a very picky eater. she is eating orijen now with canned grain-free wellness. she has actually put on weight on the orijen and that is really exciting for us! she was always about 6 1/2 lbs but now she is up a little more than 7 lbs. she is a very small kitty. she just turned 11 this summer, but she was always like this.
does anyone else have this problem? i read online that a lot of siamese cats are prone to this problem. i should mention that she is an old-fashioned siamese, an apple head. she also did not come from a breeder. she came from the lady upstairs from my apt who lived with her 13 cats (3 were kittens, one of whom came home with me!), her grandchild, a lobster in a tank, and a crow! so, she is not from the best of lines and pretty inbred, i think. she was the first pet i got on my own and i didn't know any better! but i wouldn't have it any other way, i love her to pieces!!! she had blood work done last winter and it came back perfect.
if you do have a problem like this what do you do to help your kitty feel better? do you have any suggestions?
thanks for your time!
