I'm new here and I'm having issues with my cat, let me start from the beginning: I found Enzo in my neighborhood when he was about 8 weeks and took him in when none of the neighbors claimed him. He's now getting close to his 3rd birthday.
His only issue has always been that he had a tendency to over eat and then vomit. It would happen on and off but generally hasn't been as bad in the last year or so. We've moved twice and in this new apartment everything seemed fine. The vomiting stayed low, but he had a couple bad ones so my girlfriend decided to buy him hairball and "daily best" treats. We'd try to give him a treat in the morning and at night.
A week or two after she bought the treats, he began acting more anxious, especially in my room at night. I sleep with the door shut and I've always keep him inside since his litter box is in my bathroom. However, his new anxious howling would wake me up and so I simply started to leave the door cracked. This seemed to help.
A few days ago I came home to find that he had pooped on the couch. It was more than what I usually scoop out of his box. A few days go by and he seems to be normal. Then this morning, he was howling and running around the living room. I get up to see what's wrong when he takes a few laps, stops, looks at me and starts pooping on the floor.
I scoop his litter box every two or three days at the most and on both occasions, the box had been done within the previous day. He did use the box in between the two incidents, although judging from the amount, he's been trying to hold it.
Any ideas?
