Antibiotic ointment?

I'm using Neosporin on my cat Nubi's ears. They were lightly bitten and he made it worse by scratching. So now he is on house arrest with a cone. I'm using Neosporin pain, itch, scar ointment. And I shaved a little hair off. Does anyone know if I should be using a different type ointment? Do you think a trip to his vet for antibiotic injection would help?

From what I have read and heard, do not use the Neosporin with pain meds in it. Just the plain Neosporin only. You could send a pic to your vet and ask if they would be willing to recommend something - either a prescription that you could pick up from their office, or another OTC medication.

Bitten by another cat? If so, a stray, feral, or one of your other cats? If a stray or a feral, you should let the vet know that as well.

Thanks for letting me know about the Neosporin. It's not a stray, it's his brother Simon. They play tusssle and chew on each other.

Yes, stop using the pain formula IMMEDIATELY. Just plain neosporin is fine, though.
