After almost 3 years of dealing with my big mystery cat Coco, she is finally healthy again.
Now, her little sister Sadie has decided to take over the role of mystery cat. Sadie had a hard to treat UTI last Oct/Nov. After a few rounds of antibiotics, it cleared up and she has been fine since. There were no crystals in her urine, so the vet did not suspect stones.
A few weeks ago, we noticed that Sadie had lost a dramatic amount of weight in a short time. She went from 9.8 lbs last November to 7.0 lbs May 3. I took her back today for a follow up on the UTI. Her weight is down to 6.6.
At her May 3 appt, the vet did a complete workup due to the dramatic weight loss. Her WBC was pretty low and her liver numbers were very elevated. She was put on Clavamox for the UTI and Denamarin for the really high liver values.
The vet is keeping her for the day to run a repeat urinalysis. He said he's not sure if running another CBC and chem panel would show much difference in 2 weeks.
I'm stumped as to what could be causing her weight loss. Google told me feline leukemia, but she was negative as a kitten. Any ideas on additional tests I should be asking for?
